Who Lived Here in the Past

Entries in the Old Kelly's Directories for Stalham, Norfolk, UK.

The general information on each page is slightly different, although at first glance they may appear the same, but by comparing one year to another, you can see how the community developed. The lists of private residents and commercial residents also give an indication who has passed away or moved on between records. You will find for instance in 1888, a William Salmon as the farmer at Chapelfield farm, but in 1900, the farmer is shown as Mrs Eliza Salmon, so it looks as though William has passed away and his wife is running the farm. You have to be very careful with such assumptions, as it may be not all it seems and it is best to consult the parish registers.
