Maids Head Public House

110 High Street, Stalham - Telephone 01692 580200
(Lower High Street, opp St Mary's Parish Church)

One of the oldest pubs in Stalham, before the car arrived, this was where the stagecoach used to leave for Norwich and London. The last mail coach left here in 1920, this picture is thought to have been taken in 1892. Further down the road, next to the Baptist Church, are the old stables which were used to house the change of horses for the mail coach.

The "Maids" offers a good all round menu of home-cooked food and has live music most weekends. If you see chickens running loose in the High Street, then they have escaped again from the rear gardens of th Maids Head.
