St Mary's is the Parish Church and is very active in the village, organising many fund raising events, including an annual art show. Every Tuesday morning (Market day) you will find many stalls laid out in the Churchyard, selling bric-a-brac, cakes, etc, including a fund-raising tea and coffee stall.
St Mary's has a fine 15th century font. The church stands opposite the
Maids Head Inn, one of Stalham's older buildings. It is said that it was built as a lodging house for the workers building the church and it is supposed to be connected to the church by a secret tunnel so that the drunken state of some of the workers would not be seen by the local people.
