Wayford Bridge Hotel
Dating in parts from the late 1600’s Wayford Bridge Hotel fronts onto the
bank of the River Ant, just upstream of Barton Broad, where Nelson is reputed to have learnt to sail. The hotel is idyllically situated in some five acres of gardens and woodland. (Right: The view from the Hotel towards the River Ant.)
The accommodation section of the
Hotel was constructed in 2000 and has been furnished and equipped to a high standard. All
rooms are en-suite, most of them with both bath and shower and offer Colour Television with Teletext, Direct dial Telephone, Trouser press and tea and coffee making facilities. (Left: En-suite bedroom.)
Most of the rooms are
river facing and are on both ground floor and first floor levels. One twin bedded room is equipped for those guests with mobility problems. Children and dogs are most welcome.
The Hotel Bistro and
a` la Carte Restaurant offer perhaps the best choice of dining facilities in the area (recommended from personal dining experience) providing a wide range of interesting and reasonably priced dishes. (Right: The Garden Restaurant.) Both restaurants are popular with guests and locals alike and offer a selection of fresh local seafood and Charcoal grill specialities, complemented by a carefully chosen selection of wines from around the world. Alternatively in fine weather dine out on our large patio and enjoy the fine views of the river. The comfortable lounge Bar with its open log fire is a popular meeting place and offers also a wide range of beers and real ales. Ample car parking is available on site.
The Hotel is sited beside the A149 at Wayford Bridge and is a mile and a half outside
Stalham, home to some of the largest
boatyards in the Norfolk Broads and where the well-known film “
Swallows and Amazons” was made. (Left: The Hotel Lounge.) We are ideally located for both the businessman and the holiday maker alike, only half an hours travel from either Norwich or Great Yarmouth and fifteen minutes travel from Bacton Gas Terminal, yet sited in the heart of the Norfolk Broads – England’s newest National Park, making for a great venue for activity holidays, with good walking on the nearby Weavers Way, bird watching on the many nearby nature reserves, boating and fishing on the Broads.
The excellent and largely undiscovered beaches of the North Norfolk coast are within easy reach. (Right: The Wayford Bar.)
